Maintenance Compatibility Guide
- Ratio Swap: If you intend to replace the entire outdrive , make sure the replacement unit has the same 1.79 ratio. Changing the ratio to another number (such as 1.60 or 1.97) without replacing the propeller will result in unbalanced performance or overloading the engine.
- Physical Advantages: The empty outer case ( housing ) with part number 3868893 is actually interchangeable with other ratios (1.51, 1.66, 1.97) as long as the internal gear set contents are moved or adjusted to suit your engine’s original ratio requirements
